Kristen Stewart’s Mom Calls Girlfriend Alicia Cargile “A Lovely Girl”

It’s the first confirmation of the Clouds of Sils Maria star’s new relationship.

It’s been a long time since Kristen Stewart’s love life was under a harsh public spotlight, and since the end of her famous affair, she’s been using her time incredibly well: acting opposite bona fide legends, becoming the first American actress to win France’s César Award, and speaking her mind about the sexism rampant in the industry that made her famous. But now speculation about Stewart’s personal life has flared back up, to the point that her mom, Jules Stewart, has commented about it in The Sunday Mirror.
The rumors that Stewart was dating her personal assistant, Alicia Cargile, are apparently true. “I’ve met Kristen’s new girlfriend, I like her,” Jules Stewart said. “What’s not to accept? She’s a lovely girl.”
She continued, “I feel like people need to be free to love whoever they want. I accept my daughter loves women and men. It’s O.K. to be who you are in my world. We all choose our friends so we should be free to choose our lovers.”
Paparazzi photos of Kristen Stewart and Cargile together had sparked dating rumors as early as last September, but Jules Stewart’s comments are the first confirmation of the relationship. Now that it’s out in the open, maybe the paparazzi can feel free to give the pair some space? That’s probably too much to wish for, but mazel tov to the couple all the same.
